Please Note – Due to small quota allocations per area, a client needs to reserve animals (including plains game) upon booking the safari. Non-reserved animals may be taken if available but will incur a 50% surcharge on top of the Government Licence fee to cover the costs of late application fees and courier fees of a licence to Pemba.
Situated in the North East of the Niassa National Reserve, this camp boasts over 31 miles of Lugenda River frontage and the same again along the Rovuma River, the latter forming the border between Mozambique and Tanzania. This is as wild as Africa, or any area on earth can get.
Game can be seen all day long coming down to quench their thirst in the cool perennial waters that originate over 300 miles away in the mountains to the west, close to the Malawian border. The terrain consists of Miombo forests varying to Miombo woodland, riverine, granite hills and grasslands, thereby providing ample suitable habitat for the multiple species naturally indigenous to the reserve.

On your first day on which you will be arriving at Johannesburg International, you will be shuttled to a preapproved lodge or hotel. The staff will take care of your luggage and are well trained to also assist with the handling of rifles and other weapons which you might have selected to bring with you on your Safari.
On the following morning, you will be transferred to OR Tambo, Johannesburg and depart on your flight to Pemba, Mozambique. Here we will assist you with customs and firearm clearance. You will be accompanied to the plane at the airport and then charter into camp. All on the same day.
Now the fun begins. Depending on your booked Safari the timing will vary. You will be in camp along with our experienced Kwalata staff where we will care for your every need and be hunting some of the best areas in the world.
Leaving the same way you arrived, the steps are the same with no surprises. Leave camp by means of charter flight – back to Pemba – connect with your flight to Johannesburg. Depending on the arrival time in Johannesburg, most travellers are able to connect with the same day flight back home (arrival in Johannesburg from Pemba is normally around 3 pm).
