Kwalata’s South African base known as the Waterberg wilderness reserve consists of 78,830 acres and is located in the Waterberg region of South Africa’s Limpopo province. The reserve is a declared provincial reserve area with a Critical Biodiversity 1 classification and a core area of the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve as officially declared by UNESCO in 2001.
This area is beautifully managed by having highly controlled and moderate quota allocation, strict regulations with regards to age-appropriate harvesting, constant anti-poaching efforts and great isolation from human activities. All this combines to make this 562 000 acre block in the Niassa National Reserve.
Makuya Nature Reserve is a 16,000 ha game reserve near the Pafuri gate in the far north of the Kruger, and also shares an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park. The reserve is owned by the Makuya, Mutele, and Mphaphuli communities and is used for both trophy hunting and photographic tourism purposes.
